Consolidated Bank Ghana LTD. (CBG) has reaffirmed its commitment to financial inclusion by hosting a financial literacy programme for over 150 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Accra, in partnership with the Korklu Foundation.
The programme, supported by the Bank of Ghana (BoG), the Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations (GFD) and the Department of Social Welfare, equipped participants with practical knowledge in budgeting, saving, investing, financial planning, book keeping and the benefits of formal banking.
Delivering the keynote address, CBG’s Deputy Managing Director of Corporate, Business Banking and Technology, Madam Sheila Azuntaba, reaffirmed the Bank's commitment to ensuring that Persons with Disabilities are fully included in Ghana's economic transformation.
"At CBG, we are committed to ensuring that Persons with Disabilities are not left behind in our nation's growth agenda for inclusivity and sustainability. Financial inclusion is vital and we are dedicated to making it a reality for everyone," she said.
As part of the initiative, CBG opened a bank account for each participant, providing immediate access to formal financial services and reinforcing the Bank's commitment to expanding financial inclusion.
Madam, Dorcas Afotey, Founder of the Korklu Foundation, commended CBG for creating opportunities that empower Persons with Disabilities through financial inclusion. Representatives from the Bank of Ghana and the Department of Social Welfare also lauded the Bank for its leadership in promoting financial literacy and inclusive economic participation.
The initiative reflects CBG's broader commitment to creating shared value by expanding access to financial services, empowering underserved communities and supporting Ghana's inclusive and sustainable development agenda.
